History

The Acker Drill Company was founded in 1919 by W. L. Acker, Sr., as a contracting company for the exploration of coal and other minerals. The company got its start during the days of the very active Anthracite Mining Industry of Pennsylvania.  Located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where coal drills and core drilling services were abundant, Acker Drill set itself apart, securing major contracts from firms like the Lehigh Coal and Navigation, the Pennsylvania Coal Company, and the Hudson Coal Company, among other large mining enterprises.  As the coal industry declined, the Acker Drill Company expanded into manufacturing equipment for customers outside the localized anthracite fields of Northeastern Pennsylvania.The shift from contracting services to manufacturing was gradual. 

Steady, continual growth occurred throughout the years, both in new product design and performance,
and has plunged Acker's products onto the worldwide stage.  Acker's new owner, Mr. Wayne Wise, formerly associated with the Warren George Company in Jersey City, NJ, is proud to be at the helm of this increasing business.  We at Acker welcome the opportunity to add your name to our legions of faithful followers.

Acker Drill Company has a proven track record for long term stability and product reliability. Quality control is the highest priority. Highly skilled and educated employees manufacture our products in a modern facility, incorporating 3D C.A.D. (Computer Aided Design), C.A.M. (Computer Aided Manufacturing) and C.N.C. (Computer Numeric Controlled) manufacturing techniques. Such techniques assure high quality, at a reasonable cost, with the timely delivery that our clients require. All Acker employees are also accountable for the quality of their output. Each one has the responsibility to continually search out better ways of performing their job and the authority to reject items not complying with required quality standards.

Technical Support

The company's staff is capable of providing custom engineered solutions to site-specific problems, either on a design-build basis, or in co-operation with the client. Many of our products have been designed in conjunction with client's input following field testing or based on project requirements. In-depth technical support is provided, and staff members are always available to work with clients until a solution is found to meet the project requirements. Acker Drill is committed to developing new products to meet our customers needs, while offering the highest quality products possible, with the ability to provide the necessary technical support and engineering experience required.
