The Little John is an all-hydraulic core drill specifically designed for use in tight spaces. Its modular three-piece design and special mounting features make it popular for use inside of dam galleries.

What separates the LITTLE JOHN?

Modular Control Panel utilizes color coded quick disconnect hydraulic hoses for efficient breakdown and setup. A Quadraplex Piston Pump is conveniently mounted to the inside base of the Control Panel.

Angle drilling is capable with the Mast in an angled position, or with use of the Drill Head, which has the capability of swiveling up to 360 degrees.

Wireline Hoist includes 500 ft. [152 m] of 1/8” [3.17 mm] of wire line cable.

The hydraulic Power Pack consists of a 3-phase electric motor mounted to an aluminum skid.

Angle drilling is capable with the Mast in an angled position, or with use of the Drill Head, which has the capability of swiveling up to 360 degrees.

Standard Equipment

Hydraulic Power Pack –

Consists of a 30 HP, 3-phase electric motor mounted on an aluminum skid. Includes a hydraulic oil reservoir and explosion proof electric motor control box.

Feed -

30” [76 cm] spindle travel. Double-acting feed cylinders allow 6,250 pounds [2,834 kg] retract force and 4,700 pounds [2,131 kg] down pressure. Twin telescopic hollow structural steel posts accommodate adjustments for ceiling heights ranging from 60” [152 cm] to maximum 110” [279 cm].

Drill Head -

3-5/8” [92.2 mm] spindle bore. NXC-2S hydraulic Drill Head is infinitely variable from 50 to 750 RPM. Drill Head swivels 360 degrees allowing for drilling at any angle. Drill Head hinges open for tool handling. Hand Chuck included with assembly.

Mast -

Positioned with two hydraulic cylinders which can be lowered into a travel position. Includes crown block with sheaves. Angle drilling capable.

Modular Control Panel -

Modular Control Panel utilizes color coded quick disconnect hydraulic hoses for efficient breakdown and setup. A Quadraplex Piston Pump is conveniently mounted to the inside base of the Control Panel.

Water Pump -

Quadraplex Piston Pump. Capacity is 0-13 GPM at 600 PSI.

Wireline Hoist -

Includes 500 ft. [152 m] of 1/8” [3.17 mm] of wire line cable.

Ackermatic Hydraulic Chuck -

"H" Chuck handles all rods/casings up to 3-1/2" [88.9 mm] OD. Jaws must be changed for each rod or casing size.
