The SOIL-MAX has been field proven by contractors all over the World for over 25 years. With 11,500 ft. lbs. [15,591 Nm] of "working torque", it was originally designed for large diameter auger drilling requirements, an area it stays true to today. And in addition to BIG TORQUE, the SOIL-MAX has BIG VERSATILITY. It handles augering, soil sampling and coring operations quickly, efficiently and economically. Needless to say, there is nothing small about the SOIL-MAX. Well, maybe except for the list of requirements it can’t do.

Standard Equipment

Power Unit –

(5) cylinder, 97 HP @ 2,300 rpm with 12-volt electric start.

Feed –

The main feed consists of twin cylinder with 6 ft. stroke and is capable of 28,000 pounds [12,700 kg] pull down and 21,000 pounds [9,525 kg] upward thrust.

Drill Head -

4-5/8" [11.7 cm] spindle bore, accepts all rod and casing sizes up to "P" wireline or "H" casing. Eight infinitely variable speeds in forward and reverse. Drill Head speeds are from zero to maximum rpm in each gear range.

Lo-Range -

1st Gear (0-48 RPM @ 11,674 ft./lbs. torque)

2nd Gear ( 0-96 RPM @ 5,809 ft./lbs. torque)

3rd Gear (0-171 RPM @ 3,258 ft./lbs. torque)

4th Gear (0-300 RPM @ 1,862 ft./lbs. torque)

Hi-Range -

1st Gear (0-128 RPM @ 4,017 ft./lbs. torque)

2nd Gear (0-257 RPM @ 2,017 ft./lbs. torque)

3rd Gear (0-458 RPM @1,120 ft./lbs. torque)

4th Gear (0-800 RPM @ 800 ft./lbs. torque)

Lubrication System -

Provides lubricating oil to drill head and transmission internal parts for extended bearing life.

Mast -

Welded structural steel supports and guides the rotation and feed components. hydraulically positioned then rigidly held in position for drilling (from 45° to 90°), hydraulically lowered to the travel position for moving from hole to hole. Hydraulic folding Mast allows for 20 ft. [6.09 m] rod pulls. Mast disconnect permits mast fold-down and allows for low head room drilling operations. Also includes a crown block with sheaves.

Drill Frame -

Welded structural steel, supports the mast, control panel, winches and cathead.

Dual Action Slide Base –

Provides both side-to side "wiggle-tail" and in-and-out movement of the drill unit assembly for precise positioning over the hole.

Auger Guide -

Prevents "kick out" when starting new holes. Available in multiple sizes to match preferred auger size. Customer to specify.

Control Panel -

All controls and gauges are grouped together in a convenient panel located at the left rear of the machine and facing the rear.

Drill Platform -

Welded steel construction with decking includes under deck lateral storage compartments and under deck drill rod storage compartments.

Hydraulic Leveling Jacks –

Two (2) front and (2) rear mounted jacks with lock check valves.

Optional Equipment

Main Drum Hoist -

10,000 lb. [4,535 kg] planetary type. Equipped with 90 ft. [27.43 m] of 1/2" [1.27 cm] cable.

Wireline Hoist -

Hydraulically powered. Used for wireline core drilling. 1,000 ft. [304 m] of 3/16" [.48 cm] wireline cable. Lifting capacity is 800 pounds [362 kg].

Auxiliary Winch -

2,500 lb. [1,334 kg] planetary type. equipped with 75 [22.86 m] ft. of 3/16" [0.48] cable.

Cathead Cargo Type Hoist -

Hydraulically powered cargo type hoist.

Water pump –

Progressive cavity Moyno 3L6 mud pump. Hydraulically driven. Capacity is 27 GPM at 225 PSI.

Water Pump –

Progressive cavity Moyno 3L8 mud pump. Hydraulically driven. Capacity is 50 GPM at 225 PSI.

Water Pump –

Triplex piston pump for high-pressure operations. Flow capacity 22.6 GPM @ 425 PSI.

Water Pump –

Triplex piston pump for high-pressure operations. Flow capacity 30 GPM @ 425 PSI.

140 lb. [63.5 kg] Automatic SPT Hammer -

Hydraulically driven mechanism conforms to ASTM SPT.

Ackermatic Hydraulic Chuck Assembly -

"P" Chuck handles all rods/casings up to 4-1/2" [114.3 mm] OD. Jaws must be changed for each rod or casing size.

Hydraulic Rod Clamp –

Grabs rod and casing up to 5-1/2" [13.97 cm] diameter. Includes (1) set of jaws.

Break-Out Wrench -

Hydraulically operated cylinder mounted to a wrench provides 1" [2.54 cm] - 6" [15.24 cm] diameter capacity to break drill rod.

Water Tank -

Where space permits.
