SOIL-SCOUT

Throughout the last decade, the versatile Acker SOIL-SCOUT has become a favorite of many drilling contractors throughout the country…and for good reason.  At only 47-1/2” [1.21 m] wide, it is capable of traveling through areas where most track rigs aren’t capable of going, such as between houses and through tight entrance ways.  And with clearance of less than 8 feet [2.44 m], it is not uncommon to find the SOIL-SCOUT drilling in parking garages, basements or any other highly restricted areas.
What separates the SOIL-SCOUT?

Capable of traveling through tight spaces.
Capable of drilling under 8 ft. clearance.
Various options and configurations.
Standard Equipment

Power Unit –

(4) cylinder diesel, air-cooled, 62 HP @ 2,600 rpm with 12-volt electric start.

Feed –

7 ft. [2.13 m] overall feed.  4 ft. [1.21 m] stroke and capable of 11,000 pounds [4,989 kg] upward thrust and 11,000 pounds [4,989 kg] pull down.  Additional 3 ft. [0.91] of Auxiliary Feed added with Mast Dump (see Mast Dump below).

Drill Head -

3-5/8" [92 mm] spindle bore, accepts all rod sizes up to "HW" and casing sizes up to "N".  Eight (8) infinitely variable speeds in forward and reverse. Hydraulically operated "slide type" drill head provides clearance for tool handling.  Drill head speeds are from zero to maximum RPM in each gear range.

Drill Head Speeds / Torque -

1st Gear (0-120 RPM @ 3,028 ft./lbs. torque)

2nd Gear (0-252 RPM @ 1,452 ft./lbs. torque)

3rd Gear (0-456 RPM @ 788 ft./lbs. torque)

4th Gear (0-750 RPM @ 458 ft./lbs. torque)

Mast -

Welded structural steel supports and guides the rotation and feed components.  Hydraulically positioned then rigidly held in position for drilling (from 45° to 90°), hydraulically lowered to the travel position for moving from hole to hole.  Includes a crown block with sheaves.  Capable of drilling under 8 ft. [2.44 m] clearance.

Mast Dump -

A 3 ft. [0.91 m] hydraulic cylinder allows for convenient mast positioning when drilling angle holes or on uneven terrain.

Drill Frame -

Welded structural steel supports the mast, control panel, winches and cathead.

Auger Guide -

Prevents "kick out" when starting new holes.  Available in multiple sizes to match preferred auger size.

Control Panel -

All controls and gauges are grouped together in a convenient panel.

Undercarriage -

The entire drill is mounted on a welded structural frame and is self-propelled by rubber crawler tracks.  The track drive is operated with a remote radio control system.

Hydraulic Leveling Jacks –

Two (2) front and (2) rear mounted jacks with lock check valves.

Optional Equipment
